Project Leimamo

One of our most rewarding programs has been our involvement with Project Leimamo of the Bobby Benson Center. Through a series of classroom presentations followed by field trips on the shark boat we have been able to bring the ocean and sharks closer to the kids and adults that are involved in the project. Project leader Jackery Burgess-Manoha uses real life experiences to teach about Hawaiian values and respect for the land and the ocean.

To the most bravest and nicest people on the North Shore. The Shark Encounter was the most exciting, thrilling and very educational experience, I have ever encountered. Project Leimamo was designed to practice the Hawaiian values with Substance Abuse Treatment Programs, from around the island.

Waialua High School Marine Science project

Hawaii Shark Encounters is one of the major financial supporters of the new Marine Science program of Waialua High School. This program enables students to finally pursue studies in Marine Sciences. Something that was not possible before.
The response has been impressive and every session, more students want to sign up. We hope to assist them in expanding this program, as well as create opportunities for the students to actually come out an be in the ocean.
Passion for ocean conservation grows from a personal experience, and if we want to encourage the next generation to protect the environment and possibly even be able to reverse the damage done, we need to give them the opportunity to fall in love with the ocean.

Donations

Hawaii Shark Encounters donates money to a series of causes, including North shore Baseball teams, Hawaii Conservation groups,.
And gives free field trips to school classes from Hawaii and Guam.

Hawaii Shark Encounter is also founder and major sponsor of SharkAllies, a non-profit organization for Shark Conservation.

Outreach Programs

Outreach programs and educational presentations to local community groups and schools, as well as safety programs are being conducted regularly. We are expanding these programs to include more schools and to the general public.
